I had the privilege of visiting the butterfly sanctuary in Michoacán this past week. I went on a tour with my friend Kathy and her granddaughter Chloe. Serving food to those who are hungry in San Miguel de Allende is a monumental task and this organization serves food to these wonderful people every Wednesday. Bill volunteers to help serve food and today I joined him to take some photos of these folks and the volunteers who make it all possible. Today, children presented warm clothing to the seniors. Just another typical day in San Miguel… We like to walk up the El Jardin, Bill decides to get a shine for 20 pesos ($1 US) while I take photos of the street vendors. Then it’s off to grab a bit to eat at Quince rooftop restaurant which has a beautiful unobstructed of the Parroquia de San MIguel Arcángel. The El Jardin has been decorated for the holidays. Lots of folks were at the El Jardin last night to enjoy all the holiday decorations. Enjoy!
Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of Danzón San Miguel so they held a dance in Plaza Civica in Centro. The music was wonderful and there were some really good dancers. There was a nice crowd for the event including a mime and vendors selling bubble-making guns. I got a kick out of the mime using his cell phone. I’m not sure how that conversation would take place—perhaps he only uses
Tuesday was the Revolution Day parade. The parade was filled with mostly students in their school uniforms, but there were also a lot of folks in the traditional wear. The women were dressed in bright colors so they were the most fun to photograph. Here are some of the faces in the crowd. Enjoy!
Friday was the children’s Revolution Day celebration in San Miguel de Allende. The kids got dressed up in their best revolution outfits and paraded into the El Jardin.
