This weekend is La Alborada in San Miguel de Allende so I’ve decided to post some photos from past years. This year is the 100th anniversary of the celebration.
La Alborada, which means “the dawn” or “sunrise,” is an annual festival held in honor of Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of San Miguel de Allende. It represents the victory of good over evil, as Saint Michael is believed to have led the angels in battle against Satan. As a result, the festival is a celebration of triumph, protection, and faith, and marks a pivotal moment in the city’s cultural calendar.
