100th Anniversary of La Alborada in San Miguel de Allende

This weekend marks the 100th anniversary of the La Alborada celebration in San Miguel de Allende. We went to the Jardin and caught a couple of the groups dancing and celebrating the holiday. The Locos were there with their crazy masks and an “Indian” group with dancers and drums performed in front of the Parroquia. By the time we got over to the parade route on Canal street it was

Las Bestias Danzan

Las Bestias Danzan (Dance of the Beasts) was held in the El Jardin last night. Unfortunately, they didn’t get started until late and there was no light. Oh, well, these figures are really fun to watch as they dance around the plaza. Here are a few photos from the evening. Enjoy!

La Alborada Parade

I attended the La Alborada parade this morning. If you ever want to visit San MIguel de Allende, be sure to come here during La Alborada. The weekend-long celebration is really something to see—including this wonderful parade with so many different groups od dancers being represented. I managed to shoot over 1,100 photos of the parade and I’m still going through them. I’s gonna take some time to go through
