Visiting Ensenada

Bill and I decided to get out of San Miguel for a few days so we caught and flight to Tijuana and then drove down to Ensenada. We stayed in a wonderful hotel called Punta Morro and saw most of the sights. Our favorite part of the trip was when we drove to La Bufadora (the blower). It’s a small town located all the way out on the southern point

Mineral de Pozos

Yesterday, we visited Mineral de Pozos. It’s a quaint little town about 45 minutes from San Miguel de Allende. We had lunch at the Hotel Posada de las Minas which is a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the city. While having lunch we met a very nice gentleman named Alex who agreed to take us to one of the old mines on the edge of town. We visited

S.O.M.E. Mother’s Day Luncheon

S.O.M.E. (So Others May Eat) held their weekly lunch at the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel and celebrated Mother’s Day by handing our roses and aprons to all the women. It was a beautiful event—including a mariachi band. Bill waited tables are there were over 200 people in attendance. Here are some of my favorite photos from the event. Enjoy! P.S. This was the first time I asked the folks

Hummies

It’s hard to think of a better way to spend the morning than sitting in the front garden and watching the hummingbirds swoop in for a little nectar from our feeder. We have at least four hummingbirds that enjoy our feeder daily and we have to fill up the feeder about every other day. Enjoy!

Bernal Road Trip

I had to take the Harley in for a service so Bill (with Juliet) and I decided to add a road trip to Bernal. What a wonderful little town! Lots of shops and restaurants in the central part of the town and it was very easy to get to. You can definitely park you car and walk around the whole town. We had some great tacos for lunch and did

Visita de las Siete Casas

We started our evening by walking up to Camino Silvestre for an art show. They had this wonderful old saddle sitting out on the patio and a violinist playing. It’s a wonderful store and they had some very nice art. Last evening was the Visita de las Siete Casas when all the churches set up an alter of Jesus Christ in different stages before his death. The town was packed

San Miguel de Allende: Friday of Sorrows

“San Miguel’s sweetest religious tradition is perhaps the celebration of the Virgin of Sorrows, when she (Mary) is placed over alters perfumed with chamomile atop brightly colored sawdust carpets. Her alter itself is decorated with bitter oranges, sprouts of wheat and purple paper picado (cut paper) banners.” —Atención Bill and I walked around town yesterday to view some of the public alters. It was busy in Centro with weddings (bride
