Day Trip to Atotonilco

We drove out to Atotonilco which is a very small town just outside San Miguel de Allende. The town is famous for it’s church—the Sanctuary of Atotonilco. Our friends, Marcella and Primo, from Vancouver, Canada went with us and we had the nicest day in the country. Domingo de Carnaval

Today is “crack an egg on someone’s head” day. Or as it’s known in Mexico—Domingo de Carnaval. Eggs are filled with confetti and you’re supposed to break the egg over your loved one’s head. We stayed at the Agua Blanca Spa the first night and then drove to the sanctuary the next day. I have to say… the sanctuary was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. There were Monarch butterflies everywhere—in the sky, on the trees, on

Bill volunteers to help serve food and today I joined him to take some photos of these folks and the volunteers who make it all possible. Today, children presented warm clothing to the seniors. Enjoy!
